Personalized Family Omelets

Here’s a great way to prep your morning breakfast the night before, and have some quality family time in the process. When overnight guests visit, you can spend your morning enjoying breakfast with your guests instead of laboring in the kitchen. Another benefit is that guests and older kids can make their breakfast whenever they wake up. It’s healthy and fuss-free. — Heidi Gibbs, Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri

Prep work:
Slice, dice or chop ingredients to your liking. Place all ingredients on the counter or dining room table.
Crack 2 eggs in each zip bag. Seal, squeeze eggs and shake around to break up the yolks.
Allow each person to add their choice of ingredients to their bag. Reseal, removing excess air. Carefully squeeze and shake to mix well.
Place the bags in a cake pan or big bowl to keep overnight in the refrigerator.

Cooking instructions:
Do NOT place the bags in the microwave or into boiling water. This can cause the plastic to melt and can be unsafe.
Pour contents of one bag into a skillet and cook over medium heat until egg begins to set. Fold in half and continue cooking for 1 to 2 minutes.
Optionally, you can bake several omelets at once in buttered ramekins. Bake at 350°F for about 20 minutes; longer if eggs need more time to cook. Salt and pepper to taste.
